Hello,

We are reaching out today because we wanted to inform you of a fully-remote, paid internship opportunity with our organization, the National Science and Technology Medals Foundation.

Our goal is to hire a Junior Program Assistant (JPA) through the end of the calendar year with an option to continue working with us through 2021. The JPA will be responsible for sourcing, contacting, and building relationships with top STEM minds, academic institutions, and other stakeholders. Student Spotlight

UTA undergraduate Jane Cloud (UROP<https://www.uta.edu/research/opportunities/undergraduate-research/programs>) was awarded the President’s Cup Award at the Texas American College of Sports Medicine Annual Scientific Meeting in Waco. This award, not usually given to undergraduates based on the rationale that they would not be able to compete with Ph.D. and master’s students, is given to the best poster and presentation out of the 200 students that present at the conference.

The Harvard – MIT Summer Institute at MGH
The Harvard – MIT Summer Institute at MGH<http://hst.mit.edu/academics/summer-institute/biomedical-optics> is run by the Wellman Center for Photomedicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. During the summer, students attend the Biomedical Optics Lecture Series, work on a specific project in a lab at the main campus of MGH, and receive additional training in technical communications and responsible conduct of research.

We are accepting applications for the 2018 UT System Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) 2018 UT System LSAMP Summer Research Academy (SRA). Students selected for this special summer experience will work on a faculty-mentored research project with a faculty mentor at either UTA or at one of the other universities in The University of Texas System. The 3rd Annual Research Integrity Symposium is scheduled for Friday, November 3, from 9:00am to 3:00pm in Rio Grande, University Center.

UT Southwestern Medical Center Summer 2018 Undergraduate Programs

For the 26th consecutive year, UT Southwestern Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences is sponsoring the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Program. The goal of SURF is to give 100 undergraduate students an intensive, 10-week research experience in a world class research environment. Students immerse themselves in the laboratory and work on individual research projects with UT Southwestern Graduate School faculty. Undergraduate Research Showcase Week will be held October 17-20. This week is dedicated to encouraging students to participate in faculty-mentored research experiences. Undergraduate Research Showcase will feature seminars, panel discussions, and workshops as well as a research poster display of research and creative projects of undergraduates who recently participated in summer research. Rice University is hosting the Gulf Coast Undergraduate Research Symposium<http://gcurs.rice.edu/> (GCURS) to be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 on the Rice campus in Houston, TX. The application is now open. Interested students should register online at gcurs.rice.edu<http://gcurs.rice.edu/> and submit a one-page research abstract by Tuesday, October 10, 2017.

GCURS is a forum for undergraduate researchers to present original research discoveries. The symposium format is 10-12 minutes, individual, oral PowerPoint presentation. An additional 2-3 minutes will be allotted for a question-and-answer period. Good Afternoon,

Undergraduate Research Showcase Week promotes undergraduate research opportunities and encourages undergraduate students to engage in undergraduate research. The week will include seminars, panel discussions, and workshops as well as a research poster display of research and creative projects of undergraduates who recently participated in summer research. All undergraduate students, all majors, are welcome to attend. Free food will be available at each event.

UT Southwestern: Lab Technician Needed
Seeking a full-time, lab technician to join the research group of Joel Elmquist. Our group studies the neuroscience behind obesity and diabetes, using mice as our primary models. We are looking for someone who can help with day to day maintenance of the lab, perform mouse breeding and genotyping, histology, analytical assays, and physiology experiments. Independent research experience, molecular biology or rodent handling is an asset.
