Position Description:
90 AmeriCorps positions in beautiful Washington State
9/1/01 - 8/1/02.
Choose from the following:
1. Tutor elementary students in reading and ESL skills
2. Teach basic computer skills to children and families
3. Recruit volunteers and organize literacy activities for youth
4. Work with at-risk teens
5. Tutor youth in general academic areas
All projects focus on needy students in rural schools, and serve a high
percentage of students with limited English (Spanish).
Benefits:
-education award of $4,725 to help finance further education or to pay
student loans.
-$700 per month living allowance
-health care
-child-care assistance (if eligible)
-relocation allowance (if eligible)
Minimum Requirements: Must be at least 17 years of age, US citizen or
lawful permanent resident, have a high school diploma or GED.
Qualifications: Interest in personal and professional growth; positive
interpersonal skills; organizational & time management skills;
dependability; flexibility; desire to work with youth in a rural school
environment.
