DEFINE is an electronic communication of class schedules, announcements
and updates regarding DEFINE, the on-line accounting system.  It is
distributed by the Office of Accounting and Business Services, DEFINE
Education and Training.  Subscriptions are free and may be placed by
following the instructions at the end.  If you have received this message

The *DEFINE Classes for the Month of February are as follows + NEW LAB
CLASSES FOR VP2 AND TRAVEL:

           *Basic Navigating in *DEFINE

            *Tuesday, February 8th      8:30 a.m.  - 10:00 a.m.

Topics covered in this class will include signing on to *DEFINE, changing
passwords, navigating through *DEFINE commands and using the menu structure.
Please contact us at ext. 2138 or via e-mail [log in to unmask]
to establish a User ID and password before attending class.  Also, please
bring your departmental account number to class.

          *GBM (Account Balances) & GTM (Account Transactions)

          *Tuesday, February  8th        10:00 a.m. -  11:30am.

The topics covered in this class will include viewing account balances and
transactions on-line.  Please bring a departmental account number to class.

          * VP2 (Under $1,000 Voucher Payments and Reimbursements) &
GGV(Vendor ID Setup)


          *Thursday, February 17th       8:30 a.m. -  10:30 a.m.

This class will teach you how to create electronic payment vouchers for
reimbursements or purchases under $1,000.00 in cases where you cannot
utilize the Procard.  *NOTE:  An under $1000 Purchase order number is still
required.   The GGV portion will teach you how to setup vendor
identification numbers that are not currently in the vendor file.

         VP2 LAB  -- You must have completed VP2  training prior to this
lab. Class will be                                      limited to 10
participants.

         *Friday, February 18th          8:30 a.m. -  10:30 a.m.

In this lab you will be given examples to create payments to vendors or you
may bring actual departmental invoices for payment(vendor must be already
setup in the vendor file).  This will give the creator the opportunity to
work at their own pace and to be able to ask questions of the trainer after
learning the documents.

         *AMM (Employee Appointments-PAF's)

          *Thursday, February 10th       8:30 a.m. -  10:00 a.m.

This will teach you the ANM and ACM commands in *DEFINE.  These are
electronic documents that add new appointments and change existing
appointments for employees.  This covers all appointments, except work
studies.

          *Reading the Statement of Account and Account Reconciliation

         *Thursday, February 24th        8:30 a.m. -  9:30 a.m.


The objective of this class is to enable the participant to read and
understand each part of the statement of account and to reconcile
departmental records to the accounting transactions reflected on the
statement.  Please feel free to bring your statement of account to class if
you would like to address specific items on your account.

          *VT1 and VT2 (Request to Transfer Funds)

          *Thursday, February 24th        9:45 a.m. -  10:45 a.m.

You will learn how to transfer funds electronically between accounts and
budget categories.  Electronic budget transfers are not allowed for 26
(grant) accounts or 30 (restricted) accounts.

          *VP7 (Procurement Card Voucher)

          *Tuesday, February 22nd      8:30 a.m. -  9:30 a.m.

This class will teach you how to process your procard charges online.


          *ETM (Employee Time Management, Vacation/Sick Leave)

          *Wednesday, February 23rd       1:30 p.m. -  2:30 p.m.

In this class you will learn how to enter employees' vacation and sick leave
activity on-line.  This class will also show you how to look up balances and
accruals for vacation, sick and comp time.


         *VE5, VE6 and VP5 (Request to Travel and Travel Vouchers)

         *Tuesday, February 15th      8:30 a.m. -  11:30 a.m.


You will learn how to create Request to Travel, corrections to Request to
Travel and the Travel Voucher.

        *TRAVEL LAB - Must have prior training on the VE5, VE6 and VP5
documents.  Class will be                                       limited to
10 participants.

         *Wednesday, February 16th   1:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

The lab will offer two different examples of travel requests and the
vouchers for reimbursement.  This will give the creator the opportunity to
work at their own pace and to be able to ask questions of the trainer.

         *NVM (Inventory Module)

         *Wednesday, February 9th      1:30 p.m.  -  2:30 p.m.

This will teach you how to navigate within the inventory module and maintain
departmental inventory.

NOTE:  You should have prior authorizations to modules to attend class(es).

*All classes will be held in Room 110A JD Wetsel Service Bldg.

*You will enter the building from the West side doors, these are the ones
closest to the Stadium.  Go through the Training Office of Human Resources,
Rm. 112 (first door on your left, after entering building). Then go to the
second door on the right, this will take you into the
Training Lab.
