list of workshops offered by the SDEA Training Department. All

April 3rd
What: WCI Shop Supervisor Training - Ergonomics
When: 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Where: Environmental Health & Safety, 500 Summit
Suggested audience: UTA Shop & Lab Supervisors
Presenter: TBA
Overview: Shop and Lab Supervisors will learn how to
complete all WCI claim forms accurately. They will also
learn how to be aware of how their employees do their job,
how to implement proper lifting procedures, and proper
workstation alignment, etc.

What: New Employee Orientation
When: 8:00 am-5:00 pm (Lunch Provided)
Where: J. D. Wetsel Building Room 200
Suggested audience: All new hires since January 2001.
Presenters: Training staff, various Dept. Reps.,
and Human Resources.
Overview: The new structure of Orientation will
include 3 of the Staff Development 10 Essentials: UTA
Orientation (8 am-10 am), Customer Service (10 am-noon)
and Institutional Compliance (1:00-3:00 pm). New
employees are required to come for the full day. Current
employees may attend any of the sections they need to
fulfill their 10 Essentials.

What: What To Do When Someone Has A Problem With Alcohol
When: 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Presenter: Angela Hancock, UTA Substance Abuse Prevention

Overview: Participants will learn how alcohol can affect
relationships and how you can help a friend who is abusing
alcohol to get help. Topics to be covered include: alcoholism,
marrying/dating an alcoholic, and how an alcoholic parent
affects children.

What: Healthfest 2001
When: 9:00 am-3:00 pm
Where: Centennial Mall (between the University Center and
Arlington Hall).
Suggested audience: All
Overview: Healthfest 2001 features free or low cost health
screenings and assessments, nutritional information, plus
other health & wellness information. Special events will
include sumo wrestling, 1st down and the Mr. & Ms. Fit UTA Contest.
All students are welcome to participate, but must register on
site by 2:00 p.m. Prizes are awarded to the winners! Lunch will
be available for $3.50. Volunteers are needed throughout the day.

Overview: With summer fast approaching, many working parents
may be at a loss as to how to choose a childcare provider for
the summer season. A representative from the Texas Department
of Protective & Regulatory Services will teach parents what
qualities to look for in a childcare provider, warning signs of
a poor provider, and related issues. This presentation will give
parents the tools they need to choose a childcare provider with
confidence and assurance.

through UTA's Payroll Savings Plan during this enrollment
