Subject: Advice to State of Texas Travelers

September 11, 2001

To: State Agency and University Travel Coordinators

From: Ms. Gerry Pavelka, Director, STMP

RE: Travel Arrangements

As everyone now knows, there were major incidents occurring within the
United
States this morning. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has
suspended
all aircraft movements throughout the United States in the aftermath of the
earlier incidents. For those travelers holding reservations, please contact
the
appropriate booking source so other accommodations can be made to rearrange
the
travelers schedule. Due to the high volume of calls anticipated, please ask
your travelers to be patient when contacting the travel agency.

Also, as per the rental car contracts regarding one-way rentals: Advantage
will
not charge drop-off or mileage charges between any two US locations; Avis
will
not charge drop-off charges, however, mileage will be charged at twenty
cents in
the State of Texas and thirty-two cents per mile outside Texas. Mileage
charge
is waived on inter-city rentals between Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San
Antonio, TX for Avis; and Enterprise will not charge drop-off or mileage
charges
between any two Texas locations. However, due to the suspension of all
aircraft
throughout the US, travelers are using rental cars for their mode of
transportation and therefore, rental cars may not be available from our
rental
car vendors.
