Global Grounds Thursday, March 6, Palo Duro in the UC, 4-5:30pm. Enjoy live
music by international students, free snacks, chai, and coffee, while hanging
out with your friends! Open to entire UTA community, bring your friends!
International Spouses Club Friday, March 7 Swift Center, 1:30-3pm. If you
are a spouse of an international student /scholar or are interested in our
meetings, please come! This Friday we will be volunteering at a local Nursing
Home. Meet at the Swift Center and we’ll provide transportation.

Guest Speaker on Sri Lanka Wednesday, Mar 5, 12-1pm, Central Library, 6th
Floor Parlor. Professor Sandya Hewamanne, Drake University will speak
on “Duty Bound? Militarization, Romances and New Forms of Violence among Sri
Lanka's Free Trade Zone Factory Workers.” Reception follows

Guest Speaker on “Legalizing Prejudice: Apartheid, Nazification, and Jim Crow”
Presenter: Charles Miller, Finance and Real Estate. Professor Miller's lecture
will examine what he calls "legalizing bigotry": the deliberate use of a nation's
laws and courts to make prejudice legal. Friday, March 7, 12-1pm. UTA

MUSICAL PERFORMANCES
University Bands Concert. Thursday, March 6, 7:30pm. Irons Recital Hall (105
FA) The UTA Concert and University Bands present their first concert of the
spring semester. Featured on the program are works by Ron Nelson, Percy
Grainger, Robert Russell Bennett, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and Frank Ticheli.
The concert is free and open to the public.
Ivanov/Grossman Guest Recital Saturday, March 8, 7:30pm. A violin and piano
recital with guest artists Ivanov and Grossman. Irons Recital Hall (105 Fine
Arts Building) Free!
Jass Faculty Recital A jazz recital featuring performances by members of the
UTA Jazz faculty. Mon, Mar 10, 7:30pm, Irons Recital Hall (105 Fine Arts

Downtown Arlington Music Mondays Free Lunchtime Concert featuring UTA
music department faculty and students. 12:15- 12:45pm with $5 lunch to

Arbor Oaks Nursing Home Visit Friday, March 7, 3:10- 4:45pm. Meet at the
North Entrance to the UC for transportation with UTA Volunteers.
