> Qualifications to become an officer:
> *     Must be enrolled in UTA (preferably for Fall 2002 and Spring 2003)
> * Must be interested in other cultures and promoting cross-cultural

> *     Must be interested in developing and implementing programs and
> activities to recruit and retain membership in the ISO

> Positions available & responsibilities: (officers will preferably
> represent four or more different nationalities)

> *     President - Works to set the agenda, leads weekly meetings each for
> fellow cabinet members and for the general membership, works to set and
> implement goals for the organization, represents the organization in any
> and all relevant functions to promote the organization and its efforts.

> *     Vice-President - Assists the president with his or her
> responsibilities, is responsible for room reservations and related
> logistics, and represents the organization in any and all relevant
> functions to promote the organization and its efforts.
>
> *     Secretary -- Registers the organization with Student Governance,
> keeps historical records of meetings and goal-setting and distributes them
> to fellow cabinet members and general membership as needed, and represents
> the organization in any and all relevant functions to promote the
> organization and its efforts.

> *     Treasurer - Overseas the ISO budget, conducts transactions with
> regard to membership, and keeps accurate records of all receipts and
> disbursements, files necessary financial statements with Student
> Governance, and represents the organization in any and all relevant
> functions to promote the organization and its efforts.

> *     Public Relations Officer - Develops printed and electronic publicity
> for the organization and its activities, coordinates the distribution of a
> variety of forms of publicity, and represents the organization in any and
> all relevant functions to promote the organization and its efforts.

> *     International Week Chairperson - helps to select and oversee the
> International Week Committee, works closely with the I-Week Advisor and
> ISO Cabinet to ensure that the Weeks events are a success, and represents
> the organization in any and all relevant functions to promote the
> organization and its efforts.

> What are some of the International Student Organization's purposes:
> *     To represent the national and cultural diversity on the UTA campus
> *     To facilitate opportunities to socialize (make friends) with other
> international & domestic students.
> *     To design opportunities for the UTA community to learn about,
> promote and participate in cultural awareness.
>
> Recommended Activities:
> *     hold weekly meetings
> * actively participate in orientations for new international students
> *     provide cross-cultural or country-specific learning opportunities
> *     hold discussion groups on a variety of topics about culture and
> being a college student in the US
> *     arrange sessions with representatives from various campus offices to
> explain how they can benefit international students/
> internationally-minded students
> *     co-coordinate Global Grounds international coffee hour with the
> International Office
> *     co-coordinate International Week with the International Office to
> involve other nationality/ cultural student organizations and individuals
> in the efforts of I-Week
