Announcing Openings for
International Peer Advisors
New International Student Orientations - Fall 2002


Responsibilities:       During the month of August, meet and greet new
international students from over 40 different countries. Assist students
with their paperwork, answer individual questions, support the information/
reception center, guide students to various campus resources and co-present
on orientation day.

Time Commitment:        Training:                                       2, 4
hour days = 8 hours
                        Pre-Orientation Document Check-in:      2, 4 hour
days = 8 hours
                                Orientations:
2, 8 hour days = 16 hours
                        Information Center & other related activities:  as
available

Dates of Participation:
                                August 2nd & 7th        (1-5pm)
                                August 9th & 16th       (1-4pm)
                        August 12th & 19th      (7am-5pm)

Training:               Includes cultural adjustment, group leadership,
communication skills,
                                helping skills, UTA resources and
information, and logistical support.

Requirements:   Must be a continuing UTA student (both American and
International are welcome) who is
                                interested in assisting new international
students in their adjustment
                                process.   Must have a willingness to learn
new skills and be a team player.

Application:    Deadline: May 31, 2002.  Interviews and Selection will take
place in
                                mid-June.

All majors, degree status, and nationalities are encouraged to apply.
