Yet another opportunity.

Ye current students, this is probably of greatest to those of you who plan
to graduate in December, although others may want to talk to this person
about internships.

Good luck!

John

Subject: Job Opportunity

 <<Microsoft Word 4>> Mr. Bassler
I have been asked to talk to you about some job opportunities we have coming
up in market research at Reliant Energy Retail Marketing. Please review
then give me a call. I'd like to be able to access your resume bank.
A bit about our company:
Reliant Energy is a multinational energy, electricity, and natural gas
company located in Houston. Earning over $15 Billion in sales last year,
the company is displaying aggressive growth, which translates into increased
job opportunities in all departments. With the deregulation of the energy
industry in Texas, the need for data on consumers (both residential and
business) is of key importance. As a result, our department is growing to
accomodate this requirement.
About the department:
The team consists of 3 analysts and 3 managers, one director and a VP.
MBA's, M.S.'s, and PhD's all work together in the department, which serves
as grounds for great learning and professional development.
Multi-disciplinary backgrounds and experience levels all collaborate to
provide actionable research to strategic business units.
About the position:
Overall, we're looking for someone with good experience and skills in the
following:
Research/questionnaire design
Statistical analysis (especially regression - OLS and logistic)
Writing skills (mastery of the one-page memo)
Excellent presentation skills
Most of all, we're looking for smart, hard working, deadline-oriented,
problem-solving people. Quantitative research abilities are essential.
Note that we are very aggressive concerning pay (salary and bonus), much
better than most other market research opportunities I have encountered.
There is no preference for MBAs or PhD's (or whatever) for this position.
However, we prefer that the candidate be done with schooling (the PhD's in
the department know how hard it is to write a dissertation and work
full-time). If a person is candidate for the PhD, we ask that he or she be
very close to finishing, prepared to furnish a letter from the dissertation
chair indicating so.
Experience is preferred, of course, but most of us served as RA's in grad
school or worked at a research center, so this experience is often
considered a good enough substitute.
Please have potential candidates call me at 713 207 4924 for an initial
screening interview.
Thanks again.

Charles
