Hello SSA'ers and Sociology Majors:

This email is to announce a very EXCITING upcoming SSA sponsored forum:

        FORUM ON "TABOO TOPICS" MARCH 26 AT UTA

                        Subjects ranging from sexual orientation to war will
be part of an open forum, "Taboo Topics: What We Don't Talk about on College
Campuses," to be held at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, in the E.H.
Hereford University Center, room 108. A distinguished panel of academic and
community experts from all sides of the political, social, and religious
spectrum will handle questions and possible taboo topics, such as race,
gender, sexual orientation, religion, and war. Panelists are: Dr. Jean Tant,
president, ACLU (Fort Worth); Bob Lydia, president, NAACP (Dallas); Dr.
Carol Key, Tarleton State University; Dr. Susan Ayres, TWU School of Law;
David Evans, gay community activist; Dr. Steve Sprinkle, TCU-Brite Divinity
School.
The forum is sponsored by the UTA Sociology Student Association. The event
is free and open to the public. For more information, call Debra McBrier,
assistant sociology professor and association advisor, at 817-272-3800.

There will also be a small, informal reception for panelists, SSA members
and Sociology students immediately following the forum in UH 432. Free food
and drink!
