I thought that it would be worth posting this message to the listserv so the
members of the listserv could hear of activities on other campuses in
response to the terrorist attacks of recent days. (see, specifically, the
attached Web address from a British newspaper's Website -- listed at the
bottom of this message).

I am sending this message neither to endorse nor refute the ideas contained
in the Weblink attached to the message.  However, as mentioned in the
Weblink article itself, the mainstream U. S. media have for the most part
ignored the reactions arising from many campuses.  A decision to enter a war
is a very serious one.  It is at such times that the expertise of the
nation's most educated persons, both faculty and students, should be taken
into account in light of the fact that many of these persons have
specialized and detailed knowledge of the options.  Therefore, I send this
to you in the hopes that you can begin to follow the debate on campuses
around the nation as the U. S. struggles to determine the best course of
action for its own future.
