NSEERS REGISTRATION REMINDER
Individuals who have already complied with NSEERS Registration requirements,
either through entry to the US or by in-person registration early this year
are reminded that there are re-registration requirements that must also be
fulfilled.
Individuals subject to NSEERS Special Registration: All male citizens or
nationals (born in) of the affected countries who are age 16 and over and
who are in the US in non-immigrant status (Permanent Residents, Asylees,
Refugees and certain diplomatic statuses (A and G) are exempt).
Affected Countries: Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Egypt,
Eritrea, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco,
North Korea, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria,
Tunisia, UAE, Yemen.
Registration Requirements:
A. Registration upon entrance to U.S.:
1. Registration at port of entry (POE) is required of male citizens or
nationals, age 16 and over from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Sudan, Syria
2. Registration at POE of all others subject to NSEERS is at discretion
of immigration officer.
3. Re-registration is required during the 10 day period following the
30th day after registration at POE, AND
4. Re-registration is required during the 10 day period following the
one year anniversary of the POE registration, and each successive one-year
anniversary if no subsequent exit and re-entry takes place.
5. The 30 day and annual re-registration is required after each new
entry to the US
B. First Registration during Call-in Registration in Spring
2003:
1. Date of first registration determines date of annual re-registration
2. Registration is during the 10 days following the one-year
anniversary of the first registration and each successive year, EXCEPT
3. If there is a new entry to the US and special registration takes
place at the POE, then the date of that registration becomes the ruling date
and subjects the individual to both the 30 day registration and the annual
registration requirements listed above.

Items required for Re-registration:
* Passport,
* I-94,
* I-20, DS-2019 or other immigration documents,
* transcript,
* current enrollment information,
* proof of address
Other NSEERS Requirements:
A. Notification of Change of Residential Address, School or
Employer (Non-Students)
1. Within 10 days of change, complete form AR-11 SR and mail to
address on form
2. Students must also change address on Registration Screen of the
UTA website in order to comply with SEVIS requirements. The NSEERS mail-in
form does not change the address in SEVIS.
3. Even if it does not involve a change in residential address, a
transfer to a new school must also be reported on form AR-11SR.
4. Form AR-11 SR can be downloaded from the Special Registration
pages of the immigration service (http://uscis.gov)
B. Leave US through Designated Airports or Border Crossings
1. NSEERS registrants must report to an immigration officer at
certain airports or border posts prior to leaving the US.
2. A full list of designated points of exit is available on the
immigration service web site
3. For those leaving through DFW Airport, the reporting facility is
in Terminal A, Section C.
Consequences of Non-Compliance:
* If an NSEERS Registrant leaves the US through a non-designated exit
point or fails to report to an immigration officer prior to departure, he
may not be able to re-enter the US.
* If an NSEERS Registrant fails to report on the 30 day and annual
anniversary dates, he will be considered out of status, and ineligible for
any future immigration benefits such as applying for OPT or for change of
status.
* If an NSEERS Registrant fails to report a change of address, he
could be subject to arrest, fine or deportation.
