Recently advisors from the International Office attended a meeting of International Educators where USCIS (formerly INS) officials spoke regarding issues involving international students.  The most recent interpretation of the new law forbids persons in F-2 status or on Optional Practical training from attending university classes that are part of the pursuit of a degree.  F-2 and OPT students may still attend incidently courses when they are not a part of a degree for which that student has been admitted.
