JS-DEFDRIV - Defensive Driving Training

A prospective driver must complete a 6-hour DDC and secure a Driving Record Background Check (Request for Information from Texas Driver Records) with a satisfactory rating prior to operating UTA leased, owned, or rental vehicles. Individuals not completing the above-mentioned requirements will not be added to the Authorized Drivers List. Individuals that have taken DDC within the past three years can be exempt from taking the UTA DDC with a copy of the DDC certificate. DDC will be offered at no cost to staff, faculty, and students; however, to obtain a certificate for a 10% discount on auto insurance, a $5.00 fee will be required (note: not all insurance companies offer a 10% discount; check with your agent if you are interested in the discount). The UTA 6-hour DDC cannot be used for ticket dismissal.
