The Sociology and Anthropology program is collaborating with
Women's Studies to host a 2 day event in conjunction with UTA's Women's History
Month celebrations. Details and flyers will be posted soon, this is an
announcement inviting students' participation.
Film screening: Sri Lankan Director Prasanna Vithanage's
film, Purahanda Kaluwara (Death on a Full Moon Night). English
subtitles, 170 minutes. The film screening will be followed by a discussion and
a reception offering Sri Lankan fare.
On March 5, at 12:00 Cultural Anthropologist Dr. Sandya
Hewamanne will present a talk, Duty Bound?: Militarization, Romances
and New Forms of Violence among Sri Lanka’s Free Trade Zone Factory
Workers
The talk will be followed by a Q and A and a reception.
