The
Swan Scholarship
Department of Sociology and
Anthropology
The Swan Scholarship is a competitive
scholarship that awards $1,000 toward tuition to one full-time undergraduate
student majoring in Sociology or one full-time graduate student pursuing
a Master’s Degree in Sociology.
Eligibility requirements:
Full-time undergraduate students
majoring in Sociology and full-time graduate students pursuing a Master’s Degree
in Sociology are eligible to apply.
Recipients must be
Preference will be given to students:
(1) who are single parents, (2) who have had to overcome personal obstacles in
the pursuit of their educational goals, or (3) who have had an interruption in
their educational careers (i.e., they have not been enrolled in an educational
program, including secondary school, junior college, college, or university, for
the past 10 years and are newly enrolled or have been enrolled at UT Arlington
for the past several semesters).

an unofficial transcript if available (these are free of charge; see: http://www3.uta.edu/registrar/transcript.asp),
and an essay (1,000 words or less) that discusses the
challenges facing you as you pursue your degree, your interest in Sociology, and
your goals for the future.
