James Spaniolo

As president from 2004 to 2013, James Spaniolo oversaw a period of tremendous progress at UT Arlington. He boosted the University's profile, enhanced educational excellence, and forged strategic public and private partnerships. He was instrumental in advancing academic programs, attracting world-class faculty, creating a vibrant residential campus, and bringing state-of-the-art facilities. Perhaps the most visible evidence of his impact is the development of the College Park District, a 20-acre mixed-use community anchored by College Park Center.

Fueling Bright Futures
The University of Texas at Arlington established the
James D. Spaniolo First Generation Scholarship in spring 2013
in honor of former UT Arlington President James D. Spaniolo.
The scholarship supports high-achieving freshmen and transfer students whose parents did not earn a college degree.
