In this webinar you will hear from a seasoned career advisor on tips and strategies to apply your sociology degree into a fulfilling career.  From a recently employed sociology graduate hear a firsthand account of how she utilized her sociology degree to land a fulfilling job and what it looks like to employ the sociological imagination on a daily basis.



Part of the job search is marketing yourself and you will learn how to employ tools such as social media to enhance your employability. The presenters will also speak to what present day employers are looking for and how you can convince them your college experience and degree answers their call.  Researching and networking into the job you want, best practices in resume and cover letter writing, and interviewing techniques will also be covered.

Loren Collins is a proud graduate of Humboldt State University's College of the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences who has returned to assist future graduates of HSU with a building a future of their own. He has gained 7 years in the field of career planning and employment counseling with three separate career related certifications. He is a full-time staff member of HSU's Academic and Career Advising Center.  He is part of initiatives that are working to integrate Career Development into the core curriculum across the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences in an effort to help students learn how to market their degrees effectively throughout completion of their degree.

Heather Wright earned her Bachelors of Science in Sociology from Radford University in 2013. Following her graduation, she joined the Computing Research Association's Center for Evaluating the Research Pipeline (CERP). There, she works as an assistant evaluator for programs and initiatives aimed at the retention of underrepresented students and professionals at all levels of the computing pipeline.

Jaime Hecht is Program Coordinator for the Academic and Professional Affairs Program (APAP). Jaime received her BA in sociology from Florida State University and her MA in sociology from University of Central Florida. She has been with ASA since 2012.
