Subject: HGSC-G/GREAT application available now
Importance: High
The HGSC-G/GREAT (Genetics/Genomics Research Education And Training) Summer Research Program is designed to interest African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Persons with Disabilities in genetics/genomics
careers. Our goal is to increase the number of these underrepresented groups with Ph.Ds. in this field. The program has a strong bioinformatics focus and intends to increase the number of diverse individuals with basic skills to consider this field of study.
We offer research projects in bioinformatics; molecular genetics; and engineering.. Life science majors with an interest in coding or CS/engineering majors with programming backgrounds interested in medical research will receive our highest priority.
Program eligibility: We accept undergraduate junior and seniors from the groups listed above. Students should also have a 3.0 GPA (or above) and major in one of the following: chemistry; biology; computer science; mechanical
or electrical engineering to name a few. This internship is a paid 9-week residual program. Please see attached brochure for more program highlights.
Deadline: March 9th
