Wonderful idea, David and very thoughtful of Ben’s contribution to the field and our university.

Subject: Ben Agger Library in the Center for Theory

Colleagues,

I’m happy to announce a new project of the Center for Theory. The Center will now house a library of theory books! Pending any necessary approval, I’d like to name it the Ben Agger Library. People affiliated with the Center will be able to access the books (we’ll have to figure out lending rules as it develops). Over the summer, I hope to have some space for the library. Once there is space, it will serve as a lounge/study space and meeting area. The library will be open to donations of any theory-oriented works, but I aim to specifically target our community. Our first goal is to archive Ben’s work. I’ve already begun purchasing books written by people who have travelled to UTA to present for the Center’s colloquium. And I’d like to place books in it written by you!

Two requests from you. First, if you have any spare theory books (duplicates or texts sent to you from publishers) or theory journals, please consider contributing them to the Center. Second, if you have any spare author’s copies of your own books, please consider contributing them.

Please let me know if you have any ideas/suggestions or questions. I want to develop this into both a community resource, and eventually a site for participating in scholarly communication.

Thanks,

David
