Hi everyone,

Just a quick reminder of the workshop next week and the software tutorial that we’ll do on the first days.

It’ll all be quite loosely organised and we’ll go through each step of installation as required but, for those of you who haven’t used the NEXT python framework (IC), it’d be good if you checked that you have a modernish git version installed with lfs (large file storage) enabled. This will allow us to skip any odd errors related to tests etc.

To check the git version: git —version

It should give you a message starting with: git version 2.17.2
if the number is < 1.8.2, you’ll need to install a newer version

Next step, check you have lfs: git lfs install
Positive message means you’re sorted.

if you get something like: git version >= 1.8.2 is required for Git LFS, your version: git version 1.7.1, then you’ve not installed the modern git properly or not added the executable to your PATH

if you get an error about not finding lfs, you need to install it. Instructions can be found here: https://git-lfs.github.com

We’ll start at 09:30 in rm 102 of Science hall on the UTA campus after the NEXT run coordination meeting.

Could someone forward this message to the missing attendees, I don’t have emails for newer students.

Cheers and see you all next week,

A
