Welcome to the Global Engagement newsletter! This biweekly newsletter will feature news about Global Engagement programs and upcoming cultural events on campus.

Language Exchange Program

Join students who have already signed up for the Language Exchange Program! Our participants are from 21 different countries and are fluent in over 25 languages!

The Language Exchange Program is a fun, free way for all students to improve their language skills and cultural understanding. The program works by partnering fluent speakers of a language with others who wish to learn that language. Participants determine when and where they would like to meet each week!

Global Mavericks Certificate

 

Global Mavericks is a free professional certificate open to all students that is designed to increase intercultural, leadership, and communication skills. Become a more competitive candidate for jobs and build relationships with a diverse group of students!

Global Mavericks is designed to be flexible, and some of your options to complete the certificate include activities like studying abroad, volunteering, taking cultural academic classes, attending cultural events, and participating in the Language Exchange Program. Whether you're a Global Maverick already or interested in joining the program, come to this workshop to learn all about how your culture shapes your identity, how to communicate effectively across cultures, and how to further develop your intercultural skills on campus and beyond.

Join Global Engagement as we discuss the things that you need to know to be a successful student in the U.S. Some topics will include how to email your professors, tips on what to do and what not to do in a U.S. classroom, and how to avoid plagiarism in your writing. Free lunch will be served!

Free Speech: Is it always free or should it come with consequences?

Featured Cultural Organizations: La Société Francophone & Pi Delta Phi


La Société Francophone & Pi Delta Phi have a few upcoming events, including a conversation dinner at Panera tonight, and a crêpe sale on Wednesday, October 2 on the Library Mall. 

Stop by Panera between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm for some French conversation and good food. Sales will benefit the UTA in Montreal Study Abroad Scholarship, so make sure to bring an electronic version of the flyer so your meal goes towards a good cause.
