Email Invitation
Dear International Students,
I am Trang Dinh, a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (ELPS) at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). I am currently working with Dr. Yi (Leaf) Zhang, an Assistant Professor in ELPS, on a research study regarding the socialization experiences of international transfer students. If you are identified as an international undergraduate student (on an F-1 or J-1 visa) who is at least 18 years old and transferred to UTA from a community college, we would like to invite you to participate in the study and to share your experiences in interacting with faculty, academic advisors, international advisors, and peers throughout your postsecondary academic journey in the U.S.
We know this is a busy time of year, but we kindly request your participation in two individual face-to-face interviews, each of which will last about 30 minutes. In addition, prior to the interview, you will be asked to complete a paper-based student survey regarding your demographic background, which will take about 10 minutes. This is your opportunity to give voice to your experiences in navigating college. If you are willing to participate in the study, please contact me at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> to schedule an appointment.

An audio recorder will be used during the interview only for the purpose of this study. The record will be destroyed permanently as soon as the interview is transcribed. Your participation in this study is completely voluntary and you may refuse to participate or leave the study at any time. If you decide not to participate in the study or leave the study early, it will not result in any penalty. You can skip any questions that you do not wish to answer during the interview.

You will be assigned a pseudonym. Your name or personal identifiers will remain strictly confidential and will not be used for any public purpose or publication. The results of the study may be published or presented at conferences, but your personal information will not be revealed.
Your input is greatly appreciated as we explore this topic. If you would like more information about this study, please feel free to contact me at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>. Any questions you may have about your rights as a research participant or a research-related injury may be directed to UTA Research Office at 817-272-3723 or [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>. Thank you for your time and attention.
Sincerely,

Trang V. Dinh, Ph.D.
