25th Annual Benefit Powwow

The powwow raises money for student scholarships offered yearly by the UTA Native American Student Association. There will be Native American Dancing, vendors, and food. Admission is free! For more information,

Earth Day Climate Change Debate

Topic: "Is Climate Change Real or a Hoax?"

As part of our effort to nurture a passion for ideas and an appreciation for engaging with critical issues facing our global society today, the McDowell Center for Critical Languages and Area Studies is holding its first biannual Global Dialogue Conference on April 20 & 24, 2020.
Since our inaugural event coincides with Earth Day, the McDowell Center in partnership with UTA Libraries is holding a Climate Change Debate on Monday, April 20 at 11am–12:00pm, and again on Friday, April 24 at 7:30–9:00pm.

We are looking for a total of 10 participants (5 vs. 5) who can impress an audience of Faculty, Students, Staff, Administrators, and Community members with their arguments and oratory skill.

Ruch Scholarship Deadline

The McDowell Center’s Ruch Study Abroad Scholarship deadline is Monday, March 2. Students with a major or minor in the College of Liberal Arts who plan to study abroad this summer or fall can apply. Student Health Insurance Info Session

Location: San Saba, University Center
Time: 3:00 pm-4:00 pm
Date: Thursday, February 27

Health care in the U.S. is expensive, especially without adequate health insurance coverage. And insurance can be confusing. This free session helps international students understand how insurance works, what benefits are available, and how to select affordable coverage that meets requirements. A representative from Academic Health Plans will present the session and be available to answer questions. Free snacks, giveaways and raffle prizes will also be available.

Global Mavericks is a free professional certificate open to all students that is designed to increase intercultural, leadership, and communication skills. Become a more competitive candidate for jobs and build relationships with a diverse group of students!

Global Mavericks is designed to be flexible, and some of your options to complete the certificate include activities like studying abroad, volunteering, taking cultural academic classes, attending cultural events, and participating in the Language Exchange Program. Language Exchange Program

Our spring application for the Language Exchange Program is now open!

The Language Exchange Program is a fun, free way for all students to improve their language skills and cultural understanding. The program works by partnering fluent speakers of a language with others who wish to learn that language. Participants determine when and where they would like to meet each week!
