In this issue of the Global Engagement Dispatch, we’ve highlighted some awesome events for you to enjoy during the month of October.  If you are interested in a huge taste of American culture, this is your last chance to get discounted tickets that include free travel to the Texas State Fair (details below). The deadline to purchase tickets is today, October 10th at 11:59 P.M. October is also Hispanic Heritage month! Did you know that nearly 50% of Texans younger than 19 are Hispanic, and that the Hispanics are expected to become the largest population in Texas by 2020? If you’re a soccer fan, see world class talent and join your fellow Mavericks at UTA Day at FC Dallas as they take on the Seattle Sounders in exciting MLS action!

  *   It's Hispanic Heritage Month, which means it is once again time to enjoy Carnival Dancing at UTA! Hosted by Multicultural Mavericks, Carnival Dancing is an annual street jam to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month. There will be a DJ, free giveaways, interactive booths, music, games and costumes. You wouldn't want to miss this event!
  *   International Education Week (IEW):  We are preparing a weeklong celebration of international education and cultural exchange from October 29th – November 2nd! The week will feature an International Food Fair on the UC Mall where you can try foods from around the world, a Global Trivia night with prizes for the best teams, a lunch hour session on global leadership and intercultural skills, and much more.
