Science Week 2016

Thursday, November 3
2-3 p.m., Trimble Hall Room 02 (basement level), Psychology FIG class. Guest talk by UTA alumna Adria Toliver-Lemelle (M.S. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, 2010; Ph.D. in I/O Psychology, 2013). Open to class members only.

4-5 p.m., GEO Room 100. Guest lecture by Mark Harrison, Distinguished Professor of Geochemistry, Department of Earth, Planetary and Space Sciences, UCLA; member of the National Academy of Sciences. Title: "A New View of Early Earth and Its Habitability." A reception will precede the talk at 3:30 p.m. in the lobby outside GEO Room 100. Open to all.

7:30 p.m., Texas Hall. The Maverick Speakers Series presents Alexandra Cousteau, "This Blue Planet: Preserving and Sustaining a Healthy Earth." A National Geographic "emerging explorer," filmmaker, and globally recognized advocate on water issues, Cousteau continues the work of her renowned grandfather, Jacques-Yves Cousteau, and her father, Philippe Cousteau Sr. Dedicated to advocating for the importance of conservation and the sustainable management of water, her global initiatives seek to inspire and empower individuals to protect not only the ocean and its inhabitants, but also the human communities that rely on freshwater resources.
