Food for Thought: STD’s in the City

STDs in the City is what you are left with when you have a sex driven society! All is not Glitz & Glamour! This awareness seminar will give you a firsthand look into what’s really going on in the city and on campus. It is information packed and very informative. This seminar will reach all ages, ethnicities, class, and lifestyles! Come and educate yourself on the top 5 diagnosed STDs in Texas and across the states.

Maintaining a positive attitude in the face of difficulty as well as success makes a world of difference in how you function in your work place and how people interact with you.

This class is designed to help you explore the tools necessary to having and maintaining the right attitude. In addition, we will discuss how to deal with those whose attitude is difficult to deal with.

Advanced Supervisory Skills (T)

This course is a continuation of the discussion that for many began in our Fundamental Skills for Supervisors class. Participants will revisit the four points of supervisors and use role-play and dialogue to explore each point in depth.

Participants will not have to have taken the Fundamental Skills for Supervisors to attend this course.

Essentials of Assertiveness (AP)

Learn powerful tools for assertiveness to help you deal with conflict at all levels in the organization and discover techniques on how to be an assertive communicator.

What: Essentials of Assertiveness

When: Thursday, November 11th, 2010, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

You will also explore the differences between being passive, aggressive and assertive. In addition, you will assess your areas of strength and growth in this critical skill.

Fire Extinguisher Training

When a fire breaks out, the most important decision to make is whether to fight the fire or escape. It is important that you know how to operate the fire extinguisher before you attempt to fight a fire. Come to this hands-on course and learn how to use a fire extinguisher to safely put out a small fire when appropriate

Managing Stress in the Workplace (AP)

Is stress affecting how you function at work or at home? Stress is normal and sometimes even necessary. How you handle stress makes all the difference in the world. Learn what stress is and how to identify and understand it. In addition, discover how to identify your sources of your stress.

Professional Telephone Techniques (8)

This course is a basic introduction to telephone etiquette and customer service skills.  Learn to develop and utilize listening and speaking skills for better communication between the customer and yourself.  Discover what to do and say when a phone call becomes difficult.

Grief Sensitivity for Supervisors (T)

There are many ways in which families, friends, co-workers, neighbors and professionals can be supportive of those who have suffered a loss. In this workshop we will point out how people grieve differently and present ways to assist them through this difficult time.

This workshop will provide supervisors and managers the basic tools for helping grieving employees and present guidelines on how to deal with the different phases of grief in the workplace.
