ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) in the Workplace (T)

The 1992 American with Disabilities Act has greatly impacted the workplace and the workforce. Successful organizations today have made a commitment to hire individuals with disabilities. Co-workers and managers are often not equipped with the necessary skills to fully integrate these employees into their workforce.

With so many situations and circumstances out of control in and around us, it is comforting to know that there is one thing we can control...our attitude. Maintaining a positive attitude in the face of difficulty as well as success makes a world of difference in how you function in your work place and how people interact with you.

This class is designed to help you explore the tools necessary to having and maintaining the right attitude. In addition, we will discuss how to deal with those whose attitude is difficult to deal with.

If your office is a mess and you are drowning in your to-do list, then this class is for you. Participants will learn how backlogs happen, how to manage paperwork, how to eliminate clutter, and discover the benefits of organization.

Learn powerful tools for assertiveness to help you deal with conflict at all levels in the organization and discover techniques on how to be an assertive communicator.

You will also explore the differences between being passive, aggressive, or assertive. In addition, you will assess your areas of strength and growth in this critical skill.

There are very few people who actually like to sit in meetings. However, meetings are a necessary part of organizational management. This course is designed to explore the basic keys to conducting effective meetings that will help your team get the right information and then get the job done.

Participants will learn how to plan and prepare for meetings and uncover the elements that make a meeting a success.

Where: Environmental Health & Safety Building: Training Room, 500 Summit Ave.
Who: Environmental Health and Safety Trainers 

The skills you learn here could save a life. Participants will receive CPR certification card.

Welcoming Diversity (8) 

This workshop is an experiential, interactive program designed to promote awareness and increased sensitivity to the many similarities and differences among individuals and groups in our society.  Done in an upbeat, hopeful tone, the program focuses on developing self-pride, examining stereotypes, and learning skills in responding to prejudicial jokes, remarks, and slurs. Participants will also discover how to be more attentive to diversity and racism in the workplace and community.

Professionalism In The Workplace (AP) 

No matter what your title reads, you are an essential element in the success of your organization. In order for you to fulfill the responsibilities of your role, you must be able to present yourself and your ideas with a great deal of professionalism.

This course is designed to help you identify and develop those needed skills for projecting and maintaining professional work relationships and confidence in the workplace.

Advanced Supervisory Skills: Exercises in the Four Points of Supervision (T)

This course is a continuation of the discussion that for many began in our Fundamental Skills for Supervisors class. Participants will revisit the four points of supervisors and use role-play and dialogue to explore each point in depth.
