Hi all,

Following our People’s Choice Award for Best Looking Research Group on Campus, we have visits from two film crews in the near future:

1) President Kharbari's media people are making a promotional documentary about UTA and want to film us on Monday afternoon, Feb 4. They looked around today and liked the idea of shots of someone “taking data” in the barium room, people "working on" the mothership / TeaPot, and someone shining colorful laser beams and taking images in the fluorescence room. I recommend everyone who works on those things be around to be filmed Monday at 2.30pm.

2) APS is flying a camera crew down to make a short film about the UTA HEP / NP group on Feb 7, next Thursday. We do not yet know what they will want to film, but they will almost certainly think our stuff is cool and visual, so lets also be ready for action shots next Friday, times TBC.

The labs will need to be tidied to “TV level” for these events. I suggest that we all reserve Monday morning for a deep clean / setting up cool stuff session. Please wear something you want the world to see you doing physics in, but also be absolutely sure to wear appropriate PPE - which of course, we should be absolutely sure to do always, whether cameras are running or not.

It should be a lot of fun!

That works as well. We will begin filming in that third lab first, then film the others.

Hi Jimmie

I teach at 1.00-2.30pm, so would 2.30 pm work?

Thanks for showing John and I around your labs. We are looking at 1:30 pm on Monday, Feb 4th to come and film each lab. It would be great if students were there as well. Let me know if this works.

Hi Jimmie

The lab is a bit messy so not good for filming today, but for location scouting I am free. How about 4.00pm? You can find me in SH102.

Dear Jimmie,

My involvement in IceCube is actually tapering lately, and I would much prefer any video to focus on my work on NEXT, which occupies the majority of my research time and all my funding (this year I brought in almost $2M for that project). I would be delighted to show you around our lab to look at our NEXT work, if this would be of interest. Much of it is quite nice, visually. Let me know.

Good morning Ben,

I’m with the multimedia department and we are producing a video for Dr. Karbhari. He mentioned your research as something that we might want to look at for the video. Is it possible for me to come by and take a look at your Ice Cube project to learn more about it? I’d like to see if it is possible to incorporate it in the video.
